English...

I would like to share the thought process of making students speak and write in English. Before making them learn a foreign language named English, we should firstly tell the students the need and therefore importance of this language, which I shall share in a moment. Firstly we should tell to every student that, as they are already aware of Punjabi/ Hindi languages by the medium of communication at home, surroundings, in school and other places, this is the right time for them to learn this foreign language called English.

English is the 3rd highest spoken language in the world. Chinese (Mandarin) being the first and Spanish being the second. In the Indian scenario, English is used as the major medium of education in the higher studies, which thereby support the reason of learning English right from Primary/ Pre-Primary level. It is a gradual process and evolves lot of patience and time to learn something which does not belong to us.

I request my fellow staff members to inculcate the feeling of respect for Mother tongue (Punjabi/ Hindi or any), but the need and importance of learning English.

Time Management in Student's Life

According to a general view, all students are working hard with their own capacities, but they don't get fruitful results in form of academic percentage. Its all dependent on their skill to manage time for all activities. Effective time management is needed for achieving success. The main benefit of effective time management is that, it can drastically improve the quality of your life. There are some tips for this:

  1. Firstly, analyze your percentage use of time
  2. Prepare an event calendar
  3. Prepare chart of fixed commitments
  4. Make weekly schedule for preparing the most difficult subjects
  5. Take breaks between study hours
  6. Use odd hours for study
  7. Choose study area carefully
  8. List and prioritize daily reading schedule
  9. Get enough sleep
  10. Make a checklist for daily study hours

Proper time management will provide you some spare time for recreation also. Wastage of time leads you nowhere. So, in last I again want to remind you about value of time and its proper utilization.

Time creates history and history can't be repeated. So to be a part of history respect time!

Definition of a School !!

(Extract from letter written by Abraham Lincoln to the headmaster of his old school)
“He will have to learn, I know that all men are not just, all men are not true. But teach him also that for every scoundrel there is a hero; that for every selfish politician, there is a dedicated leader…Teach him that for every enemy there is a friend. It will take time, I know; but teach him, if you can, that a dollar earned is of far more value that five found…Teach him to learn to lose…and also to enjoy winning. Steer him away from envy, if you can, teach him the secret of quiet laughter. Let him learn early that the bullies are the easiest to lick…Teach him, if you can, the wonder of books…but also give him quiet time to ponder…the eternal mystery of birds in the sky, bees in the sun, and flowers on a green hillside.
“In school, teach him it is far more honorable to fail than to cheat…Teach him to have faith in his own ideas, even if everyone tells him they are wrong…Teach him to be gentle with gentle people, and tough with the tough. Try to give my son the strength not to follow the crowd when everyone is getting on the band wagon. Teach him to listen to all men…but teach him also to filter all he hears on a screen of truth, and take on the good that come through.
“Teach him, if you can, how to laugh when he is sad…Teach him there is no shame in tears. Teach him to scoff at cynics and to beware of too much sweetness…Teach him to sell his brawn and brain to the highest bidders, but never put a price tag on his heart and soul. Teach him to close his ears to a howling mob…and to stand and fight if he thinks he’s right.
“Treat him gently, but do not cuddle him, because only the test of fire make fine steel. Let him have the courage to be impatient. Let him have the patience to be brave. Teach him always to have sublime faith in himself; because then he will always have a sublime faith in mankind.”
